My gosh, how many articles have been written about it!
Millions of diets and thousand kinds of training equipment have been invented, but for many women and men the problem remains unsolved.
To tell the truth, I’ve wanted to lose weight since I was a teenager (I’m 21 now). I’ve never been to fat, but I’ve always felt discomfort because of the folds of fat on my hips and stomach; my bum and thighs seemed to be to big for me, and most of all I hated my double chin and fat cheeks, which appeared from time to time.
But recently I started succeeding at last! =) So I want to share my experience with you.
First of all I realized that extra weight is not the actual problem. The actual problem is the reason of this extra weight. And the common reason for all of us is stress.
So first what you need to do is to face this reason, to face the reason of your stress.
You should try to reduce the level of stress in your life. Yes, it is difficult. But it is worth that. Try just to be more optimistic about your life. There are no problems in our lives that are unsolvable. Actually there are no problems in our lives. There are only situations which appear to teach us something. So whenever you see a problem, try to see the reason of it. Ask yourself why did this problem appear and how can you solve it.
You should understand that eating does not solve the reason of the problem. It seems to bring some kind of relief. But it only seems to do so. What do you get when you eat something after a stressful situation? The main problem (the reason) remains + you have one more problem – extra weight. The same situation is with cigarettes or any kind of addiction. They seem to bring temporary relief, but, in fact, they make the things get worse.
So firstly, you have to make changes in your brain, on your psychological level. Then, when stressful situation occurs, you’ll receive a thought: “Stop! I won’t go and eat now; I’ll think this problem over and try to solve it” This is the main task for you.
But we have to fight against extra weight, which we already have, haven’t we?
Yes, but it is not as difficult as to control your mind. Here we are working with our physical body. Although we need some strength of will as well.
So here are the conclusions I’ve made:
1. Weight loss takes time. Like any other goal you want to achieve.
Forget about “-10 kilos in a week”, “quick and easy”.
Let’s imagine you begin to exercise intensively the whole week, or even month. Yes, you can lose 10 kilos. But then, be sure, you’ll stop training, because it is impossible to bear such intensive physical activity for a long time. Especially if you haven’t done it before. With this kind of approach you’ll have to become a professional sportsman to keep your body in shape.
2. It may sound crazy, but forget about diets. I mean these one-week diets, sort of “rice diet”, “protein diet” and so on. You can try them sometime, but it is not the radical method to fight against extra weight. Moreover, it may bring to worse results than you are having now. Because our body needs different kinds of nutrients. We need proteins, fat, carbohydrates, amino acids, different vitamins, minerals, microelements, etc. When you eat one kind of food during a certain period of time, and then you return to other kinds of food, your body starts to stock the nutrients it hasn’t become for a long time. Because it missed them. Your body thinks “I have to stock as much nutrients as I can in case I won’t receive them again in future”. As a result you grow fat
The best diet is called rational nutrition. And it shouldn’t be a one-week or one-month experiment; it should be your life-style.
3. No long-term fasting! Because if with the diet-situation your organism stocks other nutrients it didn’t receive, in this situation it begins to stock everything it can. Not to mention illnesses fasting can lead to.
It is useful to abstain from food, when it is necessary, from junk food for example, but fasting is not the method.
4. Do not abuse your body! Moderation in all things. Weight losing should motivate you, bring you happiness and energy, don’t exhaust your body. If you do physical exercises, do them as long as it brings you joy.
Try to involve all the advice gradually into your live; don’t force yourself to feel stressed. Start working on one thing, and then take the other. Step-by-step. You will succeed! Patience will pay.
So what are the rules I obey, that help me to grow thinner?
1. I do not eat 4 hours before going to bed. Some people consider it is better not to eat after 6 p.m. I don’t think so. If you go at 11p.m. or later to bed, it will be difficult for you to fall asleep because of hunger.
2. I eat all the products that contain a big amount of carbohydrates (bread, spaghetti, cookies, etc) before 12 p.m. It is not a tragedy if they are eaten later in small amounts.
3. I try to eat regularly: 3 times a day and at the same time, and I eat something small in between (usually fruit).
4. For dinner I cook something from vegetables or food rich in proteins (not meat, because I’m a vegetarian)
Such nutrition helped me to lose 5 kilos in one month. But what I noticed is that after this first victory my body didn’t want to lose any kilos anymore. So I realized that I need some physical exercise. And I was right. After several days of training (just 25-30 minutes a day) I started to lose weight again.
So the next rule for me is
5. Regular physical exercise. And again - don’t exhaust yourself by one hour training every day. You can start with 10 minutes training, and it will be already a small victory for you if you didn’t do any physical exercises before. Or you can plan a half an hour training 3 times a week for example. Do it as it is comfortable for you.
And the last and the most important rule is:
6. Whatever happens, don’t quit! This is your goal and you will achieve it! Sooner or later, but you’ll be slim and beautiful! It may be a long way to walk, but this goal is worth the effort.
So good luck to you!
